This Brooch is a Cut Above the Rest.

Circa 1870s, it is beautifully made and of substantial size. The cameo depicts a Roman God mounted in an ornate surround that has been pierced out and delicately filled with black enamel. On the reverse is a good sized picture frame and hinged pin with C clip. Attached is a safety chain for secure wearing.

The brooch tests 15ct gold and measures approx 5cms x 4.5mm. It can be worn by both men and women on the lapel or at the collar of a shirt. I have searched the net and I can’t find anything like it, so once it is sold, it can’t be replaced.
