PRE-COLUMBIAN REVIVAL 3 STRAND CORAL NECKLACE BY REPROSA PANAMA C1960s

PRE-COLUMBIAN REVIVAL 3 STRAND CORAL NECKLACE BY REPROSA PANAMA C1960s

A$350.00

A striking and distinctive statement piece by Reprosa Panama, this vintage Pre-Columbian Revival necklace showcases three graduated strands of vibrant red coral beads accented with decorative sterling silver-gilt spacer beads inspired by ancient Central American artistry. The necklace comes in the original boxw which is in surprisingly good, vintage condition (as pictured) and the coral beads seem to have been dyed because of their even colour. The piece is stamped 925 and there is some patina and discolouration to the spacers and the clasp which is in keeping with its age C1960s.

The red coral tones create a bold look, while the gilt silver elements add warmth and texture drawing inspiration from pre-Columbian jewellery and archaeological treasures.

Founded in Panama in the 1950s, Reprosa (Reproducciones Precolombinas S.A.) gained international recognition for producing high-quality jewellery inspired by ancient pre-Columbian goldwork discovered throughout Central and South America. Working closely with museum collections and archaeological research, Reprosa created faithful interpretations of historic designs, making their pieces highly collectible today. Their jewellery was sold through prestigious retailers and became popular with travellers seeking distinctive pieces that reflected Panama's rich cultural heritage.

Measuring approximately 46cm in length, the necklace sits beautifully at the neckline. This is a great piece for people who appreciate the aesthetics of the ancient world jewellery.
