VICTORIAN OPAL AND GARNET SILVER GILT RING WITH CZECH SILVER MARKS

VICTORIAN OPAL AND GARNET SILVER GILT RING WITH CZECH SILVER MARKS
An unusual Victorian-era ring showcasing an oval opal surrounded by a sparkling halo of deep red, Bohemian garnets. The opal displays a play of colour, but it hasn’t been polished like today, so it has a matt finish, which is interesting. The backgound of the opal is black with flashes of blue, green, yellow and orange that shift with the light.
Crafted in silver gilt and bearing Czech silver hallmarks, this halo design reflects the classic styling and fine craftsmanship of the late 19th century.
The oval cluster setting measures approximately 17mm x 15mm and weighs 3.98 grams, giving the ring an impressive presence and it sits fairly flat which makes it very wearable. It’s a wonderful example of Victorian jewellery.
